Wind – capable of powering the entire world

The solution to planet’s energy problems is right at hand. Although this might come as a surprise to some, according to a study conducted by the National Academy of Sciences, if the world turned to wind for it’s energy demands, there would be so much of it available, that would make the search for other sources seem senseless.
In the study, the Earth was divided into surfaces of 3,300 square kilometers (1,274 square miles) to be able to appreciate the wind power capability, while monitoring wind velocity every six hours. Excluded from the calculations were “areas classified as forested, areas occupied by permanent snow or ice, areas covered by water, and areas identified as either developed or urban,” so the study. In the rest of the land, wind turbines capable of 2.5 megawatt, are to occupy space, also 3.6 megawatt wind turbines in water, as far as 50 nautical miles beyond the coastline and in oceans with less then 200 meter depths.
Using the above conditions, the results from the study showed that the energy extracted from the wind is forty times greater than the planet’s demand for electricity today and all energy necessities combined, five times.
The researchers agreed that, to the question “How to easily cut the carbon dioxide emissions at a global scale ?” , wind power is the answer. In doing so, the big carbon emittors such as China, United States or Russia would make the environment a great joy if they seriously turned to this of endless source of energy.

Most likely why Pickens is a huge believer in wind power and willing to bank his money there
Cool post, just subscribed.
In our local paper it had a headline –
Will falling wind speed curb turbine plans?

Wind speed are getting less because of Global warming. I would have thought the opposite
