Super E-Spec Tire Made of Orange Peels Oil

Here on My Green Treasure you can find every day new things, new scientific discoveries and new green technological applications. This post is somewhat special because of it’s basic idea used to create the next product.Yokohama, a famous tire manufacturer has managed to create an „orange tire” which is actually a tire made with oil from orange peels. This new green tire called Super E-Spec will be launched for the first time with new appeared hybrid cars such as Toyota Prius.

The manufacturing technology of this product is based on mixing oil from the orange peel with natural rubber to reduce the amount of petroleum necessary in manufacturing process.Even if this green tire has a different composition unlike the previous tires, the performances are not affected. This new green tire also increases fuel efficiency by a 20% reduction in friction force.

Yokohama has yet to release the environmental impact of disposing these tires, which typically provides an environmental concern. The petroleum in traditional tires can burn for months in a landfill and is difficult to extinguish. These fires also release black smoke and toxins into the air. Yokohama has not specified whether the orange oil will biodegrade over time.” – Earth911
