$40 Air Filter Could Reduce Fuel Consumption by 20%

Nowadays, researchers find different ways to improve the efficiency of our cars, by reducing consumption, increasing power or change car design (lines and shapes). Sometimes big discoveries may come from small countries. Same thing happened with the product I will present in this post.

It is about a particular air filter, able to reduce fossil fuel consumption by 20%. Corneliu Birtok-Baneasa, a student from Deva, Romania, created this eco-friendly air filter and his invention was classified as very efficient, after tests on more vehicles. This environmental air filter was awarded with gold medal at the Inventika contest in Bucharest. This air filter also received second place in the International Inventions contest from Geneva.

“It is a multifunctional filter, able to decrease fuel consumption up to 20%, can reduce polluting gases from air and could give more power.” The student created this device in his backyard and was helped by some friends. He tested this air filter on his own car for two years. The air filter works as a static compressor and creates better conditions for fuel combustion. This type of air filters we should all have in our cars to protect the environment as much as we can.

So he thought Corneliu and currently he is looking for investors to put this air filter in a production line. The price for a similar air filter will be very small compared to other options we usually choose on our cars ($40). To learn more about this air filter, follow the inventions contest from Moscow, 26-29 2009 this month.

    You may wish to check your facts. It is not possible for an air filter to increase fuel mileage on any modern vehicle. If air flow is restricted, the air flow meter and oxygen sensors will simply decrease pulse width to the injectors and keep the fuel/air mixture constant. Mileage will not be affected. This is quite well documented from many credible sources.

    The facts are, it requires a set amount of energy (fuel,) to move a set amount of weight a given distance at a given speed with a particular design of engine. Regardless how the air is filtered, this does not change. What does work is to drive slower, drive a lighter vehicle, buy a more efficient engine or drive less.

    The best air purifiers are the ones using hepa filters but they are quite expensive.-”;

    In response to Eric Peterson comment: This filter is not just a story. It is real. And Corneliu, the inventor, was actually awarded for this air-filter. This filter was tested and it seems it can reduce fuel consumption by 20%. You’ll find it on Google. Just search “Corbeliu Birtok-Baneasa air filter”!
