Fish from American Waters are Contaminated with Mercury
21 August 2009 | Green News | 1 Comment
Recently, American Geological Services announced, after several studies, that all freshwater-fish from United States, contain a neurotoxic substance…mercury!!!Some studies made by US Geological Survey shows that 292 rivers and lakes in United States are full of fish contaminated with mercury.
Mercury is a very dangerous substance for human health. 25% infected fish exceed the mercury limit admitted for consumption. Researchers also announced that contaminated fish is dangerous for other mammals from those areas.
This is the result of air and water pollution with mercury, pollution in all rivers and lakes across the country. This new type of pollution appeared because of atmospheric pollution and mining industry(coal and gold). Same thing said Secretary Ken Salazar who also consider that these contaminated fish presents a real danger to the food industry.

It is a concern, we watch the regulations and the warnings and avoid those species that has the most mercury in them… Anyway I would like to thank you for providing such an informative post…
