What will happen to our planet if temperature will increase with 4˚C

Global warming is a very discussed problem, and every day researchers and scientists discover more and more negative effects that increasing temperature may have on our planet. This month, British Embassy announced the latest discoveries about global warming effects on our planet. Among many shocking statements, British Ambassador Robin Barnett said: „Global warming will not affect only polar bears. Global warming is a major problem that can affect vital resources and this thing could have extremely serious consequences.” Robin Barnett also said that global warming can affect even the relationships between governments. According to some studies made in South East Europe, population could bear the following risks, if the temperature will rise with 4 Celsius degrees: dramatic decrease of water resources, frequent droughts and outbreak of devastating fires.

Globally speaking, British researchers have shown the following effects of global warming:

Amazon Forest: Depending on the reduction of annual rainfall in Amazon river basin, large areas of Amazon forest could disappear ( because of fires or because of low vegetation).

Increased water level: Low-lying coastal areas will become vulnerable to flooding. Because the population is very dense in these areas, the impact could be dramatic. Agriculture in these areas might be in danger, and human migration will be inevitable.

Water resources: In 2080 3 billion people could live in areas with limited access to water (less than 1,000 cubic meters of water per capita each year).

Carbon Cycle: If the temperature will increase with 4 Celsius degrees the concentration of Carbon Dioxide from the air could rise by 70%.

„Gradual decrease in rainfall endangered by desertification many areas from Europe. In the last 40 years, almost half of the world’s arable land have become unusable because of drought…” , Robin Barnett said.
