Ford’s Genk Plant uses Wind Turbines for Renewable Energy Generation |
Nowadays people tend to use increasingly more renewable energy sources. Factories and all big companies have also started to use renewable energy for several reasons. First of all, any big company take into account their production costs (in many cases these costs can increase significantly, so a renewable source of energy would be perfect to reduce costs). Second, environmental protection is something that all big companies have begun to consider.
In this post we will talk about one of these big companies, . Ford produces cars for many years in almost all countries in the world. If we think of Ford’s large production, we must consider a huge waste of electricity. Ford’s leaders have begun to think seriously about the use of renewable energy. For example at Genk plant in Belgium were installed two giant wind turbines capable of producing two megawatts of power, enough to power approximately 2.500 homes. These wind turbines (150 meters high) were installed on November 16 this year, for the production of following models: Mondeo, S-MAX and Galaxy.
“It’s part of our ongoing effort to implement a broad portfolio of environmental initiatives across our European plants that are aimed at further reducing the CO2 footprint from our manufacturing operations, “said Wolfgang Schneider. Wind turbines are proving to be very effective and for this reason, Ford have made plans for installation of such systems in many other countries from Europe. “Such developments demonstrated the substantial progress we are making and our commitment to further improving our environmental performance … We are building on that progress and continuing to look at ways to further reducing the carbon footprint of our manufacturing and office locations across Europe parallel to the carbon footprint of our products. “, said Wolfgang Schneider.
