With all this eco talk taking place all over the world, the need for some fast and easy solution for the environment is great. We know that all the fuel powered vehicles produce vast amounts of pollution in the air, even with all the emission standards and regulations practiced all over the globe and that they should be replaced soon by a more environmentally-friendly ones, like the electric cars. But until then, most of us must stick to the petroleum based fuel cars and try to make them as “green” as possible. Well, a little help comes from Garmin, which has created a new module for their nuvi line of GPS equipments to devise a new route, that is not the shortest, nor the fastest, but the greenest.
The new eco-route ESP module connects into the OBD-II diagnostics port on your car and transmits through the Bluetooth port all the important data requierd to evaluate the most eco of rides. Information like the intake air temperatures, fuel facts, throttle position, combustion mixture and other are processed to provide a full spectrum of valuable material about the car’s eco performance, such as the cost of fuel used and consumption or the total carbon footprint of the ride. Additional, the system includes a driving challenge, where drivers are being scored on braking, acceleration, overall speed, so they can perform most efficiently on the roads.
The new eco-route ESP module will cost about $149.99 and is expected to come on the market in the next months.
