Kia Borrego FCEV – An Electric Vehicle Powered by Hydrogen Fuel Cells

We have already discussed often times on MyGreenTreasure about electric vehicles or vechicles powered by hydrogen fuel cells but we’ve never written about a car that is an electric vehicle and at the same time powered by hydrogen. Presonaly i didn’t knew about such a thing, but  recently I read on a specialized website about a new Kia model, which is actually a FCEV ( Fuel Cell Electric Vehicle).

Kia with their associates Hyundai explained the differences between old Kia SUV models and this Borrego VEGF. They said that the front wheels are driven by a 110kW AC electric motor, and the fuel cell stack can develop a power of 115kw. Towardp revious models that required a compressor for the hidrogen system, Kia says this Borrego is designed to work with air at ambient pressure. The efficiency of these fuel cells is also improved because the system can use now 98% of the total amount of hydrogen. The range of this vehicle is approximately 425 miles and I think this is due to electricity produced from regenerative breaking system. This model will be produced in a big number only over 3-4 years, so until then we’ll have to wait and to put some money aside.
