The designer Jin Kim has created a elegant looking mirror, that allows you to observe the amount of water you consume on a daily, monthly and even yearly basis as you wash your face in the morning. This concept is intended to raise the eco-conscious of the ordinary people to the world-wide fresh water management problems. The mirror is equipped at the edges with LEDs that are powered by the flow of water through the pipes alone! The usage of water is represented by the light, respectively dark, cool color of the LEDs. At the end of the year a pattern is created with your water consumption habit and represents your personal impact on Earth’s water supply.
If you think you use too much water, there is a option at the mirror where your water supply gets limited after a certain amount is reached. For those who feel unaffected by the LEDs warnings, the designer has placed some icons depicting the possible consequences of your actions: polar bears on melting ice, African kids needing to walk 10 km to get fresh, clean water or damaging ecosystems. The high-tech classy looking, mirror designed for world-wide water crisis awerness should be placed in any household that feels it can make a contribution and improvement to the planets well-being.
