All-electric Mercedes-Benz Vito Powered by a Zero-Emission Electric Engine

During the past year I have noticed that Mercedes vehicles and especially Mercedes electric vehicles were the most searched subjects on Mygreentreasure. We wrote about Mercedes hybrid trucks, Mercedes electric SUVs, Mercedes electric limousines and even about Mercedes foldable bikes. But we never discussed about an electric van. This week, Mercedes showed a prototype electric Vito to be produced in a limited number this year.

This electric van will be powered by some powerful lithium-ion batteries so the Vito’s range will reach to aproximately 130 km. It will be also able to haul a load of 900kg. The company has also announced that the van will run with an electronically limited top speed of 80 km/h. If we talk about safety features I have to say just a single word: Mercedes. :-) First 100 electric vans will be delivered to public institutions that are wishing to transport different things in environmentally sensitive zones. I wonder if it would be a good thing if these Vito electric vehicles will be implemented in polluted areas to reduce CO2 emissions…?
