K2 Pure Solutions has accepted to install The CLEARgen(TM) fuel cell system in their bleach plant in Pittsburg, California, in order to produce the highest quality safer bleach in the country. CLEARgen(TM) fuel cell system was designed by Ballard Power Systems and it is actually a 163 kilowatt fuel cell generator which will help K2 to meet all its energy needs. Moreover, this fuell cell generator will displace approximately 220 tons of CO2 emissions every year, equivalent to removing more than 40 cars from the road.
To geneate all this energy, CLEARgen(TM) fuel cell system will use by-product hydrogen. This project is funded by California’s Self Generation Incentive Program, and as David Cynamon, Executive Chairman of K2 Pure Solutions said, they will be able to produce high quality bleach using only water.
“The Ballard fuel cell solution is a great fit with our sustainable energy strategy. By combining our Inherently Safe Technology with Ballard’s CLEARgen(TM) fuel cell solution, we will be able to produce high-quality bleach with nothing more than water, inert salt and affordable, environmentally clean electricity.” , said David Cynamon.
“The CLEARgen(TM) fuel cell system is designed to be scalable to customers’ requirements, from 163 kilowatts to over 10 megawatts. It can offset power demand at industrial process plants, and can also be used in a clean energy storage solution for grid-scale renewable energy projects…The Ballard system provides dependable clean power at a lower cost and higher efficiency than any other zero-emission product.”, said Michael Goldstein, Ballard’s Chief Commercial Officer.
