Glass’s Predicted that Most People will buy Hybrid Cars instead of Electric Cars
4 August 2010 | Green Cars | No Comments
Despite all the efforts made to create a world where electric vehicles are the most wanted green cars, Glass’s the leading expert in green vehicles has announced that it won’t be like that, at least in the next ten years. Glass’s Guide said that hybrid cars are the most desired green cars today, and predicted that things will remain like this until the end of 2020. In their latest report, “Alternative Powertrain Vehicles in Europe”, Glass’s also revealed some figures related to the number of electric and hybrid vehicles in 2020.
Hybrid Cars – The Most Popular Green Cars
After we saw Glass’s predictions for 2020, we can make a top of countries with largest green car sales:
1. Germany (26% hybrid and electric cars of total new car sales)
2. UK, France and Italy (21%)
3. Spain (20%)
The most important and most difficult thing to do in all this business, is to convince people to buy these cars. When green cars manufacturers talk too much about their batteries or about maintenance costs for their cars, most people get scared.
“One of the central issues for the vehicle manufacturers is encouraging consumer adoption of electric and hybrid vehicles, including plug-in hybrids.”, said Andy Carroll, Managing Director at Glass’s.
So, the best way to attract customers is to offer advantages to someone who buys such a car (long warranties, battery buy back programs or manufacturers leasing their batteries).
