New smart flower pot tells you when to water your flowers

Finally, your plants can ask for what they want. Natalie King, a British student, has invented a smart flower pot which tells you when your flowers need help. This new flower pot using humidity, temperature and light sensors, is very useful for someone who has a busy schedule and often forget to water his plants.
Often, flowers that are exposed at sun for a long period, or those that aren’t constantly watered, may wither. When this sensors detects an inappropriate level of light, temperature or humidity, the flower pot, emits a red light.
This flower pot proved to be very effective, so Natalie, after eight months of work on his invention, hopes that investors will contact her for mass production of this technology. This simple flower pot could “evolve”, perhaps becoming an basic tool in agriculture or other similar areas.

how is it different from this one from 2002?

Besides its cool design, this new flower pot can sense light intensity, moisture and temperature. The old one you mentioned about, can sense only last two. Light intensity is important for photosynthesis for example….so, if the light is not optimal for this process, your plant can not grow normally.
