The toothbrush you can see in the image was designed by Dr. Kunio Komiyama at the University of Saskatchewan and is manufactured by Shinken, a Japanese firm. It may look like an regular toothbrush but it isn’t! Soladey-J3X uses a mini solar panel at its base to produce some cleaning teeth electrons.

This toothbrush sends the electrons produced by those solar panels to the top through a led wire. When the electrons reach in the mouth, they cause a chemical reaction that helps cleaning your teeth without using toothpaste. For now, the solar powered toothbrush is just in a testing phase. The manufacturer wants to find 120 teens, to test this paste-less toothbrush, in order to prove them that it is much more effective than a traditional brush.

“You see complete destruction of bacterial cells…The device won’t work in the dark, however, and needs about as much light to work as a solar powered calculator.”, Dr. Kunio Komiyama said.
