All-electric Mercedes-Benz Vito Powered by a Zero-Emission Electric Engine
During the past year I have noticed that Mercedes vehicles and especially Mercedes electric vehicles were the most searched subjects on Mygreentreasure. We wrote about Mercedes hybrid trucks, Mercedes electric SUVs, Mercedes electric limousines and even about Mercedes foldable bikes. But we never discussed about an electric van. This week, Mercedes showed a prototype electric Vito to be produced in a limited number this year.
Comoto Electric Motorcycle Offers a Range of 30 Miles/2 Hour Charge
I think that every motorcyclist wants from his bike to be efficient and to have a pleasant look. But it is possible to fulfill these two requirements simultaneously? A new concept called Comoto seems to answer all these demands. In fact, what you can see in the picture is an electric bike wich weighs only 118 kg and with the same efficiency as any other motorcycle using only electricity. Comoto bike structure is composed of an aluminum(T6) frame (often used in airplanes), and a panel that contains the electronics and battery pack.
Mercedes S-Class Plug-in Hybrid Emits Less than 100g/km of CO2
Looking at the picture above, I hardly managed to write few words because I couldn’t take my eyes off this impressive car. However, I had to write that Mercedes announced that they will launch as soon as possible the new S-class plug-in hybrid model, a car with a remarcable design and high efficiency on the road. Thomas Weber, said that they managed to boast a fuel efficiency of 80 mpg and emit less than 100g/km of CO2 due to weight reduction and aerodynamic improvements.
Six Minute Charging Technology for Electric Vehicles
If you have an electric vehicle, you may know that the most frustrating moment is when you want to recharge your batteries. Recharging batteries often takes several hours and this is not a good thing because today time is very precious. For these reasons, researchers have tried to find more effective ways to solve the problem and it seems they have succeeded. The EDISON project was initiated by Siemens Energy Sector in Denmark and its main purpose is to develop more efficient charging technology for electric vehicles.
Kia Borrego FCEV – An Electric Vehicle Powered by Hydrogen Fuel Cells
We have already discussed often times on MyGreenTreasure about electric vehicles or vechicles powered by hydrogen fuel cells but we’ve never written about a car that is an electric vehicle and at the same time powered by hydrogen. Presonaly i didn’t knew about such a thing, but recently I read on a specialized website about a new Kia model, which is actually a FCEV ( Fuel Cell Electric Vehicle).
BMW ActiveE All-Electric Sedan will be Unveiled in Detroit
The car that we can see in the image, I think it is the greenest car of the week. When we talk about BMW we have to talk about power, safety and comfort, but also about high prices. These high prices are due to higher quality, but also are due to high fuel consumption. So, BMW recently announced the launch of the second electric car after the Mini E. The car is actually an all-electric sedan with a big trunk(approximately 200 liters).
Ultra-Quiet Zero-Emission Hybrid Bus debuts in New York
It seems like in America, hybrid buses began to appear in more and more cities. DesignLine is an example of such ultra-quiet zero-emission turbine hybrid bus, recently appeared in New York. This bus is fueled by a spinning turbine that recharges an onboard Li-ion battery. This system is very quiet, and for this reason bus was dubbed “The bomb”.
The new hybrid bus was tested for the first time in Manhattan and Brooklyn and cost $ 559,000 each. If the project will be approved by the end of 2010, 87 more hybrid buses will run in New York. This thing will be possible only after a $60 million contract with DesignLine.
The New Citroen C-Zero – Zero Emissions, 100% Electric
The new model from the french car manufacturer, Citroen, is the company’s second electric car, after the Berlingo van. Made in partnership with Mitsubishi, the new model earns its name from a number of aspects: it has zero fuel consumption, zero CO2 emissions and zero noise. Based on the earlier version of the Mitsubishi iMiev, the new car will be available as from late 2010 and it will be deprived of 5000 euros from the French government, as a bonus to buyers who pick environmentally-friendly models.
Rolls Royce Ghost Hybrid will be a Success or a Waste of Time?
Rolls Royce is a luxury car often bought by rich people with lots of money, a powerful, elegant and imposing car. But despite these qualities, some people might say that this car is a source of environmental pollution considering this V12 engine with high CO2 emissions. This engine is powerful but at the same time is harmful to environment so we have to talk more about the efficiency of this car. Recently was launched a new rumor, about a new Rolls Royce Hybrid model that will appear on the market. This new model will be a luxury hybrid, that will use same system as BMW ActiveHybrid 7.
Audi Efficiency Challenge – Low Emissions, Low Fuel Consumption
Audi recently announced that they want to make an experiment to show once again the efficiency of their models over a distance of 4182 kilometers. The purpose of these experiments is to show that Audi products (Audi cars) are most effective if we talk about emissions and fuel consumption. This experiment is called “Audi Efficiency Challenge from A to B“, and will be presented to a group of 120 journalists, to show them that CO2 emissions and fuel consumption can achieve an ideal rate on 4182 km distance.
France to spend $2.2 Billion In A Charging Network For EV’s
The ever-rising demand for finding an alternative to the oil-based industry has brought the potential of the electricity into more light and many world governments seem to appeal to this solution. As one of the first reactions, the French government has recently announced the intentions to spend $2.2 billion (~€1.5 billion) on building a charging network for electric vehicles to cover the whole country, in efforts to rise the interest for more environmental and clean means of transportation.
IBM’s Pursuit To Develop A 500 Mile-Range Nano-Battery For EV’s
We are all aware of the biggest problem today’s electric car(EV) face: the low-storage capacity batteries. In order to make positive steps forward in solving this matter, IBM, the giant computer technology company, has recently set the goal to develop a battery that could empower electric cars to reach a 500 mile-range, considerable more than today’s performances.
Electric and Fun – Futuristic Unicycle From Honda
Imagine the shape of the infinite sign. Now picture one of the “loops” as a wheel and the other one as a place to sit on. This is, vaguely, how the new experimental unicycle, which was presented by Honda Motors on Thursday, looks like and . In order to keep its balance, the unicycle took some of the technology from their robot, ASIMO. The steering is simple and functions just by moving your torso in the desired direction – forward, backward or even diagonally.
Volkswagen L1 Hybrid and Audi R8 e-Tron
Two of the most important car manufacturers in the world have recently launched two eco-friendly car models designed to delight customers and to minimize carbon emissions. It is about Audi and Volkswagen, two big companies that managed to amaze with two of the models created by their engineers and their designers: Volkswagen L1 Hybrid Concept and Audi R8 e-Tron Electric Concept.
How DC Electric Motor Works
When a current flows through a rotor, is generated a magnetic field, generating an electromagnetic force, and as a result the rotor rotates. The rotation of the rotor induces a voltage in the rotor windings. This induced voltage is opposite to the external voltage applied to the rotor. While the rotor rotates faster, resulted voltage is almost equal to induced voltage. Current is small, and the motor speed remains constant as long as this motor does not perform other mechanical work than spinning rotor.
One of the most Important Sources of Green Energy
In this post we will talk about a non-colored gas, odorless and also a non-toxic gas. This gas is actually called hydrogen (density is 0.09g/l, 14.4 times and weighs three times less than air). Hydrogen condenses at -252.77 °C and liquid hydrogen density is 71 g/L, which means it has the highest energy density per weight unit among all fuels: 1 kg of hydrogen contain energy equal to 2.1 kg of natural gas or 2.8 kg of oil.
Toyota will buy 10,000 Lithium-Ion Battery units from Sanyo

Toyota is a company that, I consider is the best hybrid cars producer in the world. They become so popular due to Prius hybrid model. Many Prius owners say that Prius hybrid has a limited power, and this power is difficult to improve, because of limited batteries.
I’ve always thought that Fiat cars are actually some “smart” cars powered by small and efficient engines. On the road, these cars are proving to be very agile maintaining at the same time a low fuel consumption. I recently heard that Fiat have managed to make their cars to be even more efficient using some electric motors. They recently unveiled the all-electric variant of its iconic 500 at the Detroit Auto Show.
We all know that Mercedes-Benz is one of the most important car manufacturers in the world. Mercedes produces efficient cars for many type of people. Mercedes produce cars with various sizes and for different uses. But lately, all car manufacturers are trying to turn their old car models into hybrid vehicles. This “trend”, to convert any car into a hybrid car, became apparent even at Mercedes-Benz Company. Recently they have announced the launch of ML450 Hybrid Moule 4MATIC an impressive efficient car, with a reduced fuel consumption. To produce this car, Mercedes was associated with General Motors, Daimler, BMW and Chrysler Hybrid Technology Group. Hybrid-electric technology used to produce the new ML450, it seems to be inspired by Lexus hybrid projects.
