Google Uses Satellite Imagery to Track and Monitor Global Deforestation
Among many companies that are trying to slow down global warming, Google has been noted repeatedly, thanks to their intelligent monitoring software. Until now they have released different tools for ocean mapping and home energy consumption details and each of these proved to be very effective. Rcently, Google launched a new deforestation monitoring system that can identify areas where the forest is intensively exploited, using satellite imagery.
Atmospheric Carbon Dioxide Fraction Remained Constant In The Last 150 Years, Study Reveals
The whole “carbon dioxide” puzzle is a lot more complicated matter than most scientist tend to think. Many new research that surfaced lately come to disprove most of their paradigms about this greenhouse gas. It represents about 0.04% of the Earth’s atmosphere but it is a vital gas for the Planet well-being. A major part of the carbon dioxide emitted through human activity does not remain in the atmosphere, but it is absorbed by the oceans and by the Earth’s ecosystems. Less than half, 45 percent, of the CO2 amount still lingers in the atmosphere. Also a new study comes now to show that for the last 150 years, the carbon dioxide fraction has not risen at all.
AIRS – NASA’s New Tool For CO2 Research Unveils Amazing Breakthroughs
NASA – the “National Aeronautics and Space Administration” developed a new tool for a better understanding of CO2 concentrations in the atmosphere, its movement and transport. The new device is called AIRS – “Atmospheric Infrared Sounder Instrument” and is placed on the NASA’s Aqua spacecraft. It takes daily measurements of concentration carbon dioxide in the atmosphere.
Third of Plants and Animals could Disappear due to Global Warming
Global warming is a phenomenon that can affect us, humans, but at the same time also can affect many plants and animals. Things that are happening currently on the planet are not simple at all. Researchers have realized about the seriousness of things and announced that a large number of animals and palnts should migrate to North to prevent global warming effects. Unfortunately third of these animals and plants, can not migrate at high altitudes and this is a serious problem.
Excessive Irrigation has led to a Decrease in Monsoon Rainfall in Northern India
Human actions on the environment and generally all land-use decisions can drastically influence climate change. Recently, a scientist from Purdue University have proved that these actions have affected Indian monsoon rains. His research shows that in the last 50 years monsoon rainfall decreased dramatically in rural areas because irrigation was excessively used to increase agriculture. “In the rural areas, we’re seeing premonsoon greening occurring two weeks earlier than what it did 20 years back as the demand for agricultural intensification to feed India’s people increases”.
Black Soot Could Be The Cause Of Melting Himalayas
The Himalayas are the highest mountain system on the Planet. Home to more than 10,000 glaciers and with over 100 peaks, each exceeding heights of 7,200 m, the Himalayas are , even if surprisingly for some, also the place where one of the Earth’s largest fresh water resource is located, being third only after the North and South Poles. It is dependent to the life of so many people and if were to be polluted in any way it would bring hazard to many countries. Some new research suggest that the cause of the melting Himalayas could be just that: pollution.
Global Warming: The Planet’s Future will be Decided in Copenhagen
Over the years, the earth climate has gone through several periods of heating and cooling. All these changes occurred slowly, due to natural factors, but now the earth climate has reached a level where any error caused by humans could be fatal.
The main factor influencing global warming is the greenhouse effect. This phenomenon is caused by human actions, and as scientists say, greenhouse gases in the atmosphere result in reducing the reflection of sunlight. This thing means nothing but excessive heating, so if greenhouse gases indicate a high density then the heating process will be very intense.
Earth’s Climate Could Experience Another Sudden Ice Age
The Earth is very old – about 4.5 billion years and counting. In this time it has experienced numerous events, we humans would call catastrophes, which have brought it to the present shape and form. There is no doubt in the scientists mind that those kinds of events will soon appear again.
How Forests Improve Human Health
We talked in some older posts about forest influences on global warming and the influence of vegetation on climate evolution.
Today I will present some special qualities of forests, and more specifically, the role of forest on human health (health role).
So I will continue to list some of these special qualities:
Global Climate Could be Influenced by Jellyfish Movements in Water

Global warming problem is a very complicated problem today, a problem influenced by many factors, a problem that can be solved with a huge effort, with willpower, technology and also with love for nature.
Many Islands from Pacific Could Disappear in Only Few Years
Global warming is a phenomenon that frightens increasingly more countries, several organizations and many more people. Polluting gases, greenhouse gases, in large quantities can cause an increase in global temperature up to 6 Celsius degrees. This thing could lead to dramatic changes of our planet.
Global warming is a very discussed problem, and every day researchers and scientists discover more and more negative effects that increasing temperature may have on our planet. This month, British Embassy announced the latest discoveries about global warming effects on our planet. Among many shocking statements, British Ambassador Robin Barnett said: „Global warming will not affect only polar bears. Global warming is a major problem that can affect vital resources and this thing could have extremely serious consequences.” Robin Barnett also said that global warming can affect even the relationships between governments. According to some studies made in South East Europe, population could bear the following risks, if the temperature will rise with 4 Celsius degrees: dramatic decrease of water resources, frequent droughts and outbreak of devastating fires.
