NTT DoCoMo, one of the largest mobile communication companies in Japan, plans to launch a new eco-friendly mobile phone (NTT DoCoMo Touch Wood), made of recyclable materials. This new cellphone will be powered by kinetic energy generated by user movements. Japanese company believes that by the year 2020, the market will be invaded by completely different cellphones. This new eco-cellphone will have attached a small flip-top screen and will be able to display an image in the air like a hologram.

What you can see in the picture above is actually a “universal cellphone”. It will be used as an ID, which will contain all our personal data. So, we will to take this gadget with us wherever we go. I think that recharging batteries won’t be a problem because the cellphone is powered by kinetic energy (when we walk, the battery is continuously recharged with the energy produced by our movements). Japanese manufacturers plan to install on this mobile phone a translation system in order to connect the user with everyone else, anytime, anywhere.

Portable electronic devices are very popular today, and the technology used to produce them is also advanced and is improved every day. We can find daily new gadgets with various shapes, for different purposes and different priced.

Lately, most wanted gadgets are those that use alternative energy sources to recharge. Recently I found a similar device, and I really enjoy it…Many times we use to play with things that we keep in our hands. For example, when I talking to someone or when I am thinking, I use to play with my car keys (spinning them on the finger). I think that each of us has a similar habit…and on this idea was based Thomas Mascall an industrial designer, when he created this eco-friendly MP3 player called Chukka.

The idea of this eco-friendly mp3 starts from what I have explained above: this device can generate energy for itself from motion. Such kinetic generators we have already presented on MyGreenTreasure and we will continue to do this thing, because these kinetic generators are very effective devices (does not depend on solar intensity, wind power or other factors – we have just to move them and the electricity is produced, anywhere, anytime). Actually this device is a kinetic music player that can easily be used in sporting activities, when running or walking, and the energy is produced in a very easy way. The effectiveness of a soldier, or a group of soldiers depends on how they are trained and how quickly they act in a certain situation. The reaction speed in a mission depends on physical condition and also depends on the military equipment weight.

In general,soldiers military equipment includes batteries for portable talking stations and other communication devices. Researchers from the University of Leeds have thought that they could improve soldiers efficiency by reducing the weight of military equipment. Their plan is to replace classical military batteries(batteries used for military equipment weighing pretty much), with different electricity generators, kinetic generators, solar or wind powered systems.

A similar system we have presented in an earlier post on this post, a solar jacket, easier than military batteries. Were invested 1.5 million dollars to find ways of producing electricity from alternative sources, in particular through kinetic energy generated by human body. Here we can talk also about systems that could convert body heat in electricity. In this way, soldiers military equipment will be improved, and also soldiers efficiency will increase.

These systems will be based on piezoelectric technology. Piezoelectric effect is the property of some crystals to retain electrons when they are exposed any extent or compression process.

The answer to this question was found by Mintpass and sounds like this: “Shake, Shake, Shake !” Actually they managed to create Mint Energy Rechargeable Battery, for emergency use so when you have no other way to find electricity you need only to shake this rechargeable battery and the electricity is produced due it’s unique recharging system.

For an easier understanding of how this system works I will reduce all to the following idea:  cars passing over this system with kinetic plates, will induce a rotation movement.That movement is then transmitted somewhere inside under this road, and is transformed in electricity.The inventor of this kinetic road is Peter Hughes, and this is what he said about his invention:”There are a lot of firms and local authorities desperate to install it. We have already had interest from a port which has five million cars pass through it every year and it would also be suitable for shopping centre car parks, filling stations and so on. It has taken several years to get it absolutely right so that it is robust and safe for cyclists and pedestrians as well as vehicles.”

It has spent £30,000 on a cycle lane at the Gloucester Quays site to promote car-free shopping but said it was inevitable that some consumers would need to use their vehicles to buy groceries. Rival chain Morrisons said it was considering installing the systems at its lorry depots where the weight of the trucks means even more power can be generated.”
