Urine Could Power our Vehicles Better than Water

23 March 2011 | Alternative Energy | No Comments

Urine: alternative-fuel. We all know human urine as a waste, but how many of you learned about its utility as an alternative fuel. Scientists at Ohio University stuns with their new discovery: urine can be transformed in hydrogen.  Often, we have to go to the toilet when we drive and this can be really unpleasant sometimes.

Now, this new discovery may solve the problem of bathroom breaks, anytime you leave home in a long road trip. With a little imagination, we can see how useful it can be for us. Think about this: you drive on a road where you can not “hide” to make your needs. :) In this case, your car tank is the only solution left.

Solar Panels Floating on Water

10 March 2011 | Solar Power | 2 Comments

Israeli and French researchers have found a new way to produce solar power. They planned to build floating solar farms over industrial water basins by the year 2012. In this way the panels won’t take too much land space ant they also will be cheaper.

Usually, water basins serves as water sources for irrigation. Installing these solar panels there, will allow people to produce green solar energy (each module produces 200 kiloWatts) and enhance the overall utility of the existing space.

New Aquafairy Fuel Cell Can Recharge an iPhone in 90 Minutes

26 February 2011 | Alternative Energy | No Comments

Aquafairy, a Japanese based company, developed a new fuel cell (the AF-M3000). The new fuel cell is capable of powering a cell phone, using just a bit of water. Is said that, by replacing a battery with a fuel cell in any of our electronic devices will give us about 30 hours of extra energy.

It would be nice if we could achieve this performance, but  for now, all these figures are just dreams. So, researchers are trying to materialize these kind of projects, in order to shut down the skeptics.

Enercon E-126 is The World’s Largest Wind Turbine

24 February 2011 | Wind Power | 1 Comment

A new wind turbine was installed in Emden, Germany: Enercon E-216. It is the largest wind turbine in the world. Maybe you’ve heard about E-112 turbine but this one is even larger. Despite the fact that E-112 is rated at 6 megawatts, this new one will most likely produce 7+megawatts.

After some calculations, Enercon E-216 can produce 20 million kilowatt hours per year, enough to power 5,000 households. Such a turbine produce 11,256 kwh per year per house, so it can power 1776 American homes. German researchers have big plans with their huge turbines. They started to test different storage systems in combination with the multi-megawatt wind turbine.

Carbon-Negative System Can Turn Plastic Into Fuel

24 February 2011 | Green Technology | 1 Comment

A new “technological wonder” comes again from Japanese scientists who discovered how plastic materials can be converted into fuel. Nowadays, everybody is worried about the plastic materials which are thrown everywhere. Plastic bags, caps, coke bottles and many other plastic materials are a real threat for the environment. But now, the machine called Carbon-Negative System has solved this problem.

All those plastic bags or soda bottles can be converted into fuel sufficient to heat up your home. So, using such a Carbon-Negative System you’ll be able to protect nature and save some money, at the same time. In fact, that’s all about making our life more beautiful and easier. Imagine that: you will be able to heat up your home almost for free your entire life.
