Atmospheric Carbon Dioxide Fraction Remained Constant In The Last 150 Years, Study Reveals

2 January 2010 | Green News | 4 Comments

The whole “carbon dioxide” puzzle is a lot more complicated matter than most scientist tend to think. Many new research that surfaced lately come to disprove most of their paradigms about this greenhouse gas. It represents about 0.04% of the Earth’s atmosphere but it is a vital gas for the Planet well-being. A major part of the carbon dioxide emitted through human activity does not remain in the atmosphere, but it is absorbed by the oceans  and by the Earth’s ecosystems. Less than half, 45 percent, of the CO2 amount still lingers in the atmosphere. Also a new study comes now to show that for the last 150 years, the carbon dioxide fraction has not risen at all.

NASA – the “National Aeronautics and Space Administration” developed a new tool for a better understanding of CO2 concentrations in the atmosphere, its movement and transport. The new device is called AIRS – “Atmospheric Infrared Sounder Instrument” and is placed on the NASA’s Aqua spacecraft. It takes daily measurements of concentration carbon dioxide in the atmosphere.

The Planet’s Future will be Decided in Copenhagen

Over the years, the earth climate has gone through several periods of heating and cooling. All these changes occurred slowly, due to natural factors, but now the earth climate has reached a level where any error caused by humans could be fatal.

The main factor influencing global warming is the greenhouse effect. This phenomenon is caused by human actions, and as scientists say, greenhouse gases in the atmosphere result in reducing the reflection of sunlight. This thing means nothing but excessive heating, so if greenhouse gases indicate a high density then the heating process will be very intense.

2009 Urban Environmental Problems

11 June 2009 | Green News | 1 Comment

Environment is one of the three pillars of sustainable development.Human activity has accumulated problems that have left increased pollutants in the atmosphere, vast areas of land resources degraded, depleted and degraded forests, biodiversity under threat, increasingly inadequate freshwater resources of deteriorating quality and seriously depleted marine resources.
