Passive and Active Solar Systems for Buildings

solar-heating-systemsThe adaptation of urban buildings to the specific environmental conditions of cities in order to incorporate efficiently solar and energy-saving measures and couterbalance the radical changes and transformations of the radiative, thermal, moisture and aerodynamin characteristics of the urban environment is a major priority. This incorporates appropriate sizing and placing of the building openings, to promote solar energy utilization, enchance air flow and natural ventilation and improve daylight aviability, integration of photovoltaics and also the use of passive cooling tedhniques to decrease cooling energy consumption and improve thermal comfort. World’s Largest Solar Energy Plant Proposed for Australia

australiansolarenergyWe all know that Australia the fifth largest country in the world and the also smallest continent. It is also known as  a dry, arid continent because solar energy is very high in the largest part of  the country. Because the temperatures generally reach 38 degrees Celsius, Australia is a good place to mount solar panels in a very large area.

Same thinking has been adopted by Austalian , Kevin Rudd, which will invest $ 1.05 million for building the world’s largest solar energy plant. With an output power of 1000MW this solar power plant will be three times larger and more efficient than the largest solar central from California.

Australian Government hopes to obtain the first place in the green energy production field. “We do not want to be followers worldwide clean energy, we want to be clean energy leaders worldwide…The government plans to invest with industry in the biggest solar generation plant in the world, three times the size of the current world’s biggest, which is in California” Prime Minister Rudd said.

Solar Cooling for Businesses and Apartments

As described in erlier chapters, solar energy can produce electricity and heat.A range of heat-fired appliances running on natural gas has recently been introduced to the market-place.The most interesting of these are absorption coolers used in larger builgings for natural gas-powered air-conditioning systems.Absorbption cooling if efficient and reliable, and becoming more common in the traditional marketplace.

Happily, products on market today include a solar absorption cooling system for commercial applications and schools. These are natural gas units in which a solar collector is used during the day to direct heat to the absorption cooler. At night or on rainy days, the bsorbption  cooler is heated with natural gas.The company also incorporates solar water heatingsolarcooler and solar daylighting in many of their installations to offset even more energy costs.Since the energy used to cool your buildings is one of the largest components of energy bills, this technology will be a solid long-term investment for businesses or government buildings.

As with other solar options,longer-term financing and a lower interest rate will ensure a reliable monthly net gain on energy costs.

Basic Definition of Solar Cells

Solar cells are materials that absorb sunlight and convert it into electricity.Today’s photovoltaics industry is a product of 1950s solid-state electronics, and was greatly stimulated by the need to find power sources for America’s place satelites. Its beginnings though, can be traced back to 1839 when scientists observed that light falling on certain material created a difference in electric response(in other words, it created electricity). They further discovered that the amount of electricity produced varied with the amount of light and intensity. This is called the Photovoltaic Effect(photo-for light, and voltaic-for voltage).howsolarcellwork Read more

Heat Hour Pool with Solar Energy

Do you have a swimming pool in your back yard?If so, then you really ought to be taking advantage of the most economically attractive use of solar energy available today.Solar pool heating can extend your swimming season several months each year and make that investment in your pool pay off even more with more use and enjoyment.More than 500.000 solar pool heating systems have been installed in the U.S., providing efficient heating to residential and commercial swimming pools around the country.

The economics of pool heating are extremely positive for a number of key reasons. Read more
