Carbon Negative Cement Absorbs More Carbon Dioxide Than It Emits
21 February 2011 | Green Technology | No Comments
Often carbon emissions are caused by calcium carbonate, a material used in cement’s fabrication. In other words, ordinary cement could be considered responsible for some CO2 emissions. These polluting emissions are also caused by the intense energy required for cement production.
Imagine that you can build your house, for example, without being worried about the pollution. The need to save the planet led to a new, greener type of cement. This project was developed by Novacem, a company which has been awarded by Material ConneXion, for their brilliant work.

New Enzyme Allows Plants to Grow in Dry and High CO2 Conditions
18 December 2009 | Green News | No Comments
Increasing levels of CO2 in the atmosphere and reduction of water resources are two major problems on our planet. Despite these degradation processes, researchers at the University of California San Diego have discovered some plant enzymes able to solve these two problems simultaneously.
In other words, these special enzymes can allow plants to save water while consuming more carbon dioxide. In this way water resources will be saved and the amount of CO2 in the atmosphere will be reduced.
How to Convert Greenhouse Gases into Fuel
4 December 2009 | Green Technology | No Comments
Researchers at Sandia National Laboratories from U.S. have created a machine that converts greenhouse gases into gasoline or diesel. This machine uses solar power, plus a series of chemical reactions and thus is able to transform carbon emissions into fuel. Researchers say that this type of machine could be used even under the ground to capture carbon dioxide.
CO2 emissions – Produced in 3 ways
25 November 2009 | Green News | No Comments
CO2 released in the atmosphere is nothing but a source of environmental pollution, a factor with a huge role in global warming process. We all know that carbon dioxide is the result of fossil fuel combustion (coal, oil or natural gas). Currently, highest carbon emissions are produced by cars, trucks and non-nuclear power plants. Because of that, urban areas are considered as areas with high concentration of carbon dioxide. To reduce the effects of pollution, carbon dioxide can be captured and stored. Today, carbon dioxide effects on atmosphere is a controversial issue.
