Algae could eliminate the need of using fossil fuels

I think we’ve all heard that algae can be used to produce biofuels. Marine biomass, could save each year significantly amounts of fossil fuel,but to ensure this,we need to know more about the usefulness and the efficiency of this “substance”. Researchers estimated that today there are between 200,000 and one million species of algae.

Dyadic International enzymes to turn plant waste into biofuel

Aiming to become one of the most important biofuel producer, Dyadic International made public their future production plan. They want to use some new enzymes to turn plant waste into biofuel. For $10 million, Dyadic has licensed its enzyme-production process to Codexis, a firm in Redwood City, California, financed by Shell.

How to Convert Greenhouse Gases into Fuel

Researchers at Sandia National Laboratories from U.S. have created a machine that converts greenhouse gases into gasoline or diesel. This machine uses solar power, plus a series of chemical reactions and thus is able to transform carbon emissions into fuel. Researchers say that this type of machine could be used even under the ground to capture carbon dioxide.

Exxon To Invest $600M Into Algae-Based Biofuels

Finally some green tendencies from oil companies. Despite opposing for years the idea of renewable energy, the oil giant Exxon Mobile Corporation, with a 2008 revenue of  $442.9 billion and the distinction of  “the most profitable company in the world” acquireing $45.2 billion last year,  announced a $600M “injection” into algae-based biofuel research.
